Almost £280 thousand worth of equipment has been stolen from West Country military bases in the UK. Among the items that disappeared were four Land Rovers and copper piping altogether worth more than £100 thousand.

The British Ministry of Defense reports that it is working hard on this issue.
"It is very surprising and very disappointing that military bases are losing equipment on this scale,” said MP Laurence Robertson.
In a span of 2 years there have been 97 separate incidents of items disappearing.
"I think people are going to be very disappointed at how few prosecutions have come about as a result of investigations into these thefts, and those responsible for security at these sites must do more to keep items safe in the first place and to bring those responsible for taking them to justice,” Mr. Robertson stated.
